Browser & operating system settings

To access all of SEEK Commercial's services, you will need one of the following Internet browsers:

Internet Explorer 5.5 (service pack 2) or above
-  Netscape 7.2 or above
Mozilla Firefox 1.0 or above
-  Safari (Mac OSX+)

You will also need the following settings:

-  Active scripting enabled on the browser (Java scripting on Netscape)
Cookies enabled so you can access some of SEEK Commercial's additional features to remember your actions.
 

Cookies

Cookies are packets of information that are stored in your web browser that retain information about your preferences when you are using the SEEK Commercial website. Cookies allow SEEK Commercial to direct information to the page you are viewing related to your selections.

Enable cookies on Internet Explorer version 6.0

1. Select Tools from the menu bar, then select Internet Options.
2. Click on the Privacy tab..
3. Click on the Advanced button.
4. Check the Override automatic cookie handling option.
5. Click on OK.

You can then return to SEEK Commercial.

Enable cookies on Mozilla

1. Select Tools from the menu bar, then select Options.
2. Click on the Privacy icon.
3. Click on the Cookies tab.
4. Check the option Allow sites to set Cookies. Note that you can use the Exceptions option to specify individual sites that you will allow to use cookies, or those that you want to block.  If you use this option make sure that you allow cookies from SEEK, then Close the window.
5. Click on OK.

If you use a different browser, select Help on your browser’s menu bar, then search for ‘Cookies’ to view the instructions for enabling cookies.
 

Scripting

In order to use all of SEEK Commercial’s services, you’ll need to enable scripting on your internet browser.

Enable scripting on Internet Explorer version 6.0

1. Select Tools from the menu bar, then select Internet Options.
2. Click on the Security tab.
3. Click on the Custom Level button.
4. Scroll down to the Scripting option and select the Enable option.
5. Click on OK.

Enable scripting on Mozilla

1. Select Tools from the menu bar, then select Options.
2. Click on the Content icon.
3. Check the option Enable JavaScript.
4. Click on OK.
 

Security settings and virus protection

Personal security settings may block SEEK Commercial ads from being displayed and restrict your access to subsequent pages of information.

Norton Internet Security commonly causes this problem, but firewalls and software settings may have the same effect. Click on the virus software icon (located near the clock on your desktop) to adjust settings so that you can access all of SEEK Commercial's services.

If you have Norton Internet Security, please add SEEK Commercial to the Permitted Sites list:

1. Open Norton Internet Security.
2. Double-click on Productivity Control.
3. In the Sites window, click on Specify permitted sites.
4. Click on ADD to create a new entry.
5. In the ADD window, type the URL:
 

http://www.seekcommercial.com.au

6. Click on OK to save the changes.
7. You will now be able to access all of SEEK Commercial’s services.

Norton Internet Security has two settings in particular that cause a problem – Ad Blocker and Banner Blocking. You will also need to enable Scripting when updating your preferences.
 

Pop-up Blocking

Pop-up blocking may prevent some expressions of interest being completed on SEEK Commercial.  You will need to turn off pop-up blocking on your computer to complete this process.

Enable pop-ups on Internet Explorer

1. Select Tools from the menu bar.
2. Select Pop-Up Blocker, then Turn Off Pop-up Blocker.

Enable pop-ups on Mozilla

1. Select Tools from the menu bar, then select Options.
2. Click on the Content icon.
3. Uncheck the option Block Popup Windows.
4. Click on OK.
